Greetings from San Diego! Summer’s quickly approaching and I’m diving into some serious travel planning! As my editors and I continue to fine-tune and publish the Las Vegas Series, I’m now shifting focus to the next travel spot. Looks like a partnership with the Tourism Board of Missouri will find me eating BBQ in Kansas City next week, and then my sights are set on Cuba – a long overdue trip. The content machine pushes forward! I’m also looking into more US travel. I’ve always been curious about Austin, Nashville, and New Orleans – any other suggestions? I’ll keep you posted as plans unfold. COOL THING IN TRAVELHow did we let a French tire company decide what makes a good restaurant? I don’t think people talk about this enough. Did you know that the Michelin Tire founders, and French industrialist brothers, Andre and Edouard Michelin compiled the first Michelin Guide in 1900 to create demand for automobiles—and therefore, a need for more Michelin tires. The French guide was handed out for free and included maps, plus instructions on how to repair and change tires. To encourage drivers to use their cars and explore a little more, the guide also included a list of restaurants, hotels, mechanics, and gas stations along popular routes in France. Within a decade, the Michelin Guide expanded rapidly and became available throughout Europe, as well as Northern Africa. Fast forward until now, the Michelin Guide has unveiled its first “Michelin Key Hotels” ratings. The list includes One, Two, and Three Key Hotels in the United States. The top of the top includes the Hotel Bel-Air in LA and the Whitby Hotel in NYC. Check out the full list of outstanding hotels in the US (according to the tire company) here. Oh and yeah, here is the list of three-key properties in Italy. RESOURCE OF THE WEEKCan I slide in a personal plug this week? This one is for those that are stuck in a rut or tired of the daily grind - especially if you’re already working remotely! After traveling the world solo for the last 14 years I think I’ve learned a thing or two on my journey. You see, it wasn't just about ticking off bucket list items; it was about truly immersing myself in the experiences of each place, connecting with its people, and understanding its culture in a way that went beyond surface-level tourism. And that's where the Travel Deeper Bootcamp comes in. It's not just another travel course; it's a roadmap to breaking free from the boring 9-5 routine and unlocking the secrets of long-term solo travel. Discover how to make money on the road, conquer your solo travel fears, and learn how I meet new friends, date, and connect with foreign cultures on a deeper level.
